Swiss Army Pocket Knife, Model 1908 made by the Elsener Company, who later becomes the Victorinox Company based in Iback, Canton Schwyz. Knife has clip point blade with blackened wood scales, like the Model 1890, carbon steel tools. The blade has no manufacturing year stamp, so this knife was produced most likely between 1908 - 1914.
The knife is 100 mm long, 16.5 mm thick and weights 125 g. Knife is in used condition, show some use and wear, no rust and needs a good cleaning and care. Since the knives were issued to soldiers, in part to maintain their firearms, they were under the supervision of the Swiss war Department's "Waffenkontrolle" (weapons control). This organisation carried out a quality check on military equipment, and put their "approved" stamp on the scales of a Swiss Army Knife. Initially this stamp was a small Swiss Cross.
As shown within the pictures. This knife would be a good alternative for a expensive Model 1890 Soldatenmesser.
