A highly rare Swiss Army Knife (SAK) produced in the 1990s. This listing is intended for a collector with a display case. Ordinary users should turn back now. For sale in this ad is a single Swisschamp XL.There are two in the photos. I would describe one as "mint" and the other as pristine. In other words, there's no difference. They will both be for sale as separate listings. The knives are from my personal collection. The outer scales are unhandled and have their original luster. The blades are unused and super-shiny. Out of 10 for both knives. This is the end of the line for the Swisschamp XL. These are the only two for sale on the whole planet. People who already own them are not going to give them up. According to the SAK wiki. The XL model adds the Spatula, Electrician's blade, Small Pruner blade and the Divot tool to the already large tool selection of the SwissChamp. It was made in a very short time and limited numbers in the late 1990s. Further, I can tell you that it was only available in Europe and never marketed to the USA. It was discontinued around 1998 and replaced by the Swisschamp XLT. I have done my best to photograph the condition of the scales. There is some very minor scuffing that I can see, but my cameras eye cannot. The latter three pictures are stock photos. Like any Victorinox product, with a bright light and a magnifying glass, one can find micro-sized scratches on the handles and blades resulting from both the manufacturing process and long-term storage. I have never owned a Victorinox product that was truly 10 out of 10.
If you bought new scales and put them on, condition-wise, they would not look as good as these. As soon as you actually use it, it will lose about one third of its value. His means if you put the knife in your pocket or pouch, the handles will sufficiently scuff such that it will no longer be considered pristine. So, don't do it! Given the age of these knives, I do not guarantee the viability of their pens.
This is a standard, easily replaced part. See my other auctions for more rare Swiss Army knives that should never actually be used. Regarding the Swisschamp XL, years ago I slipped over that fine line between collecting and hoarding. The other is an illness. I was there and then when these overbred, underselling SAKs were being unceremoniously discontinued.
I felt a need to save them from obscurity. Now, for sanity's sake, I must let them go... But not without due price.
The price will go where market forces take it. If you like SAKs, especially high-end exotic collectibles perhaps a one-of-a-kind Cybertool?
