MODEL DESCRIPTION: The Victorinox Artisan Swiss Army Knife is a long retired model in the 84mm (3 1/4) series. It has tools that are similar to the Fieldmaster, but slightler smaller and lighter. Back in its day, the 84mm models were just as popupar as the 91mm ones.
Today the series has shrunk to just one- and two-layer models. AGE: The scissors are the older squared-leg style, with the original single-curved spring. The clip blade ended around 1973, and the can opener often was marked with Pat, up until 1971-ish. That would suggest this knife was produced between those years. The Phillips screwdriver probably lost its file in the late 1960s but we do not have solid info on that, and this knife still has a file on the one surface.
The bottlle opener has a cutting edge on the inside curve. It also has a metal-tipped tweezers, and the older gold-colored insignia. In general, tool changes on the 84mm Victorinox knives seem to lag behind the similar changes on 91mm models, so it may be a few years younger than the tools suggest.
We welcome corrections from any serious collectors! This knife weighs in at 89.1 grams (3.1 oz), and it's about 18mm thick (3/4). Artisan knives are pocket sized Swiss Army knives (3 1/4 / 84mm). They contain the following tools. Bottle Opener with Screwdriver Tip.
