Victorinox 1998 red alox Soldier Swiss Army knife- used, excellent #7703

MODEL DESCRIPTION: The Victorinox Soldier is a 93mm Swiss Army knife with ribbed alox scales, and two layers of tools. It was standard issue for the Swiss Army from 1960 until 2008.

It is similar to the popular Pioneer model, but it has a date stamped onto the rear blade tang, and it has no key ring. Because of the dates and history, it's a very popular collectible. AGE NOTE: This knife is a bit of an oddity. Victorinox discontinued red alox Soldiers in 1965. The standard issue knife for 1998 was silver alox, but with a red shield rather than an "old cross" like this one.

The scales are similar to the 1990s Pioneers, but otherwise it is built like a Soldier: with date stamp and no key ring. Quite a nice knife, whatever its origins. The Victorinox Solder knife is 93mm (3 1/2") long and 12mm (1/2") thick. It weighs about 73 grams (2.6 oz), and includes the following tools. Bottle Opener with Screwdriver Tip.
