Red Supertimer with Roman numerals produced in the early 1990s. Personally, I prefer glass display because it makes for better sharing with others (that is, bragging and showing off).
You have entered the collector's zone. If you are just some ordinary knife user, I suggest you turn back before things get weird for you. This knife comes from the vault. It was made about 25 years ago. It is in pristine, 9.9 out of 10 condition. The knife comes exactly as shown. The watch is the rare Roman version.
It will arrive ticking accurately on USA Eastern time with a relatively new battery installed. An extra new Duracell battery will be included.
The outer scales are among the best I've seen. This is especially important with Supertimers as their handles are not replaceable.Note: As with any Victorinox knife, if one views it under a bright light at an oblique angle, micro-fine scratches and scuffs from the manufacturing process may be revealed. There's no such thing as a 10 out 10 Victorinox knife. The gift box is in good condition, too. The red outer box is 9.5 out of 10, showing a few smudge marks that are not seen in the photo.
On the white inside of the box, there is some minor staining from the knifes factory-placed oil. The photo accurately represents the staining. All the boxes from all of these older, over-sized knives show oil staining. Victorinox should have just wrapped each knife in one layer of cellophane before placing in the boxes. To get a box like this one from Victorinox in good condition is a friggin' accomplishment!
It's part of what makes the product'official. It may be awesome, but it's not'official. As soon as you drive it off the lot, it will lose about one third of its value. This means if you put this knife in your pocket or knife pouch, the handles will sufficiently scuff such that it will no longer be considered pristine. Do not pouch this knife! Given the knifes age, I do not guarantee the viability of the pen. This is a standard, easily replaced part. If you are not a bona fide SAK collector, then you're just some knife-using MacGyver wannabe. -------------------------------------- This is the last Roman Timer that will be offered by me for the foreseeable future. Just be aware that it is not the Roman version, which is circa 1992.
