A highly rare Swiss Army Knife (SAK) produced in the 1990s. This knife is intended for a collector with a display case. Ordinary users should turn back now. This listing is for a single Swisschamp XL. There are two in the photos.
They are absolutely identical in every way, including their condition, which is mint or pristine. The latter three pictures are stock photos. This is the end of the line for the Swisschamp XL.
There is only one for sale on this planet. The XL model adds the Spatula, Electrician's blade, Small Pruner blade and the Divot tool to the already large tool selection of the SwissChamp. It was made in a very short time and limited numbers in the late 1990s. Further, I can tell you that it was only available in Europe and never marketed to the USA.
It was discontinued around 1998 and replaced by the Swisschamp XLT. The knives are from my personal collection. They are in pristine, highly collectable condition.
The outer scales are unhandled and have their original luster. The blades are unused and super-shiny.
Their condition is 9.9 out of 10 or better, for both of them. Like any Victorinox product, with a bright light and a magnifying glass, one can find micro-sized scratches on the handles and blades resulting from both the manufacturing process and long-term storage. I have never owned a Victorinox product that was truly 10 out of 10. The challenge for the collector is not only to find the rare items, but to get them in good or better condition. As soon as you actually use it, it will lose about one third of its value.
What this mean is that if you put the knife in your pocket or knife pouch, the handles will sufficiently scuff such that it will no longer be considered pristine. Given the age of these knives, I do not guarantee the viability of their pens. This is a standard, easily replaced part.
